HVAC Supervisor Department:
Maintenance and Engineering Reports To:
Sr. Manager of Maintenance and Engineering SUMMARY Leads the installation, operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all facility HVAC and refrigeration systems. Supervises HVAC Specialists, assigns and verifies work, develops technical capability, and ensures reliable, safe, and compliant refrigeration support for manufacturing, cold storage, and facility operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including hiring support, onboarding, training, scheduling, assigning and directing work, coaching, evaluating performance, addressing concerns, and resolving problems for HVAC Specialists.
  • Plans and prioritizes daily, weekly, seasonal, and shutdown work for HVAC and refrigeration systems; coordinates labor, contractors, parts, tools, permits, and operational access.
  • Provides technical leadership for all types of facility refrigeration and HVAC equipment, including industrial and commercial refrigeration systems, cold storage and freezer systems, chillers, condensers, evaporators, compressors, pumps, air-handling units, rooftop units, boilers, ventilation equipment, controls, and associated piping and electrical components.
  • Diagnoses system failures and performance issues using operating data, alarms, control trends, drawings, manuals, instruments, and direct inspection; directs timely corrective action and verifies that repairs restore safe and reliable operation.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves preventive and predictive maintenance programs for HVAC and refrigeration assets, including documented inspections, testing, cleaning, calibration, lubrication, leak detection, and component replacement.
  • Monitors temperatures, pressures, refrigerant conditions, energy use, alarms, and equipment performance; reviews records and trends, identifies deficiencies, and ensures required follow-up is completed.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with applicable environmental, safety, electrical, mechanical, refrigerant-management, and process-safety requirements, as well as company lockout/tagout, confined-space, hot-work, and contractor-control procedures.
  • Maintains accurate work orders, equipment history, inspection records, refrigerant-use and leak-repair documentation, parts usage, and other required maintenance records.
  • Coordinates refrigeration and HVAC activities with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, FSQA, Sanitation, cold storage, and other departments to minimize downtime, protect product, and support production requirements.
  • Supports equipment upgrades and capital projects by reviewing system requirements, assisting with design and equipment selection, coordinating installation and commissioning, and verifying documentation and training.
  • Manages critical spare-parts needs and supports repair-versus-replacement recommendations, vendor performance, service agreements, and departmental cost control.
  • Participates in emergency response and provides or coordinates after-hours support for urgent HVAC and refrigeration conditions as required.

EXPERIENCE
Progressively responsible experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial or commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including experience leading technicians or coordinating technical work. Working knowledge of refrigeration controls, electrical systems, piping, preventive maintenance, safe work practices, and refrigerant handling is required. Relevant trade education, licenses, and certifications must meet applicable regulatory and company requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, pressurized systems, electrical equipment, and chemicals used in refrigeration and facility operations. 2. The employee may be exposed to refrigerants, fumes, airborne particles, and other substances requiring established engineering controls, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment. 3. The employee may work in cold storage areas, mechanical rooms, on rooftops, at heights, in confined spaces, and around vibration. 4. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
SCHEDULE
Schedule is typically days with the understanding that additional hours or modifications to schedule may occur dependent on business need. This position is hourly with time and a half paid for all hours worked over 40. Additional hours are required during our annual Wild Blueberry Harvest - 12 hour days / 7 days per week July-September.
Pay:
$38.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
