Job Description
Job Summary Experienced Senior Refrigeration Technician with strong hands-on expertise in DX refrigeration systems and CO₂ (R744) refrigeration. This role supports commercial and industrial refrigeration installations, service, troubleshooting, startups, and commissioning focus on Walmart business. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient in the field, safety-focused, and comfortable working on advanced refrigeration and control systems. Key Responsibilities
- Service, diagnose, and repair DX and CO₂ refrigeration systems, including single systems, rack systems, and trans critical CO₂ applications
- Perform system startups, commissioning, for new and retrofit installations
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues, including compressors, valves, sensors, gas coolers, and electronic expansion devices
- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequences
- Properly document service activities, findings, and corrective actions using service reports
- Work safely and in compliance with EPA, OSHA, and company safety standards
- Collaborate with project managers, service coordinators, OEMs, and customers
- Provide technical support and mentorship to 1st tier support technicians when needed Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of refrigeration experience, with a strong emphasis on DX systems
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience with CO₂ (R744) refrigeration systems
- Strong working knowledge of: o Commercial rack systems o Transcritical CO₂ systems (preferred) o Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting o Refrigeration controls and sensors
- Ability to work independently in customer facilities
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Willingness to work on-call or travel as required Preferred Qualifications
- Startup and commissioning experience for CO₂ systems
- Experience with OEM platforms such as Danfoss, Emerson, Carel, Hussmann, or Hillphoenix
- Vocational, technical school, or apprenticeship background
- Experience in industrial, grocery, cold storage, or data center environments Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
- Ability to work at heights, in mechanical rooms, and outdoor environments
- Comfortable working in cold and hot conditions
