AM Primary Responsibilities:
Inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on reefer units to ensure proper working condition Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system malfunctions on reefer units (e.g., Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin, StarCool) Conduct pre-trip inspections and post-repair testing to verify units are operating efficiently and to industry standards Replace defective parts and components as needed Listen to and assess operator complaints to identify and resolve equipment issues Respond to service calls and provide on-site repairs as needed Maintain accurate equipment records by documenting all inspections, repairs, and service history in accordance with company procedures Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and service supplies Collaborate with operations, dispatch, terminal staff, shipping lines, and vendors to prioritize urgent repairs and ensure efficient service delivery Keep equipment and work area clean, safe, and well-organized at all times Follow all company safety policies, regulatory standards, and utilize safe working practices Ability to work at satellite sites within a 10-mile radius Opportunities for training and career advancement are available
Requirements:
2+ years of experience as a Reefer Mechanic, or a Technical School diploma Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and electrical systems EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (for refrigerant handling) Ability to read electrical schematics and repair manuals Ability to lift 50+ pounds Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Dependable, persistent, and able to manage time effectively Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail Commitment to safety management and safe working practices Valid driver's license; CDL a plus Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions at a busy port terminal #IND1
