Refrigeration Consultant
Remote/home based position
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration equipment. Identify and resolve equipment problems by managing relationships with local outside contractors.
- Select and supervise outside contractors for on-site freezer installations
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration equipment in a large geographical area
- Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble
- Oversee repairs or preventative maintenance orders (PMs) that mainly involve the use of hand tools
- Oversee local contractors to replace broken or defective parts; re-assembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation
- Provide advice both over the phone and travel for in-person inspection when necessary.
- In emergency situations, authorized to make independent decisions to repair or replace parts to keep operations working. Engineers can authorize purchases
- Create and maintain assessment reports to corporate regarding freezer conditions and plans
- Train donor center employees to effectively work with freezers including proper cleaning, de-icing and problem identification
- Position requires 25% - 35% travel to donor centers across the country and for team meetings This job description is intended to present the general content and requirements for the performance of this job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED. Completion of an Air Conditioning / Refrigeration vocational program, trade school, college, or apprenticeship preferred. EPA certification preferred
- Must have a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience repairing and troubleshooting refrigeration equipment in a Commercial / Industrial environment.
Equivalency:
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.Example:
If a job level requires a Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.KNOWLEDGE
| SKILLS |ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of refrigeration specifically freezers. Extensive knowledge of low and medium temperature Refrigeration & Air Conditioning applications.
- Must have strong trouble shooting abilities to identify and resolve equipment problems.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Should be proactive and results oriented, with strong attention to detail and able to complete work in a timely manner.
- Must be a team player, capable of communicating professionally with all levels of personnel.
