About the Job We are seeking a Senior Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial refrigeration systems, with a primary focus on specialized soft-serve machines, walk-in coolers, chillers, and ice machines. The role involves complex troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, electrical diagnostics, refrigerant leak detection, system replacement and repair quoting, work-order documentation, inventory management, and customer communication. The technician will also mentor helpers/apprentices, participate in a 7-day on-call rotation including weekends, and travel out of town as needed. The position requires working safely in various indoor and outdoor environments, including hazardous conditions. Requirements 10+ years of total professional experience, including 3-5 years of refrigeration experience. Expert understanding of refrigeration cycles, refrigerants, electrical schematics, and commercial refrigeration components. Experience troubleshooting and repairing air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, including centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating compressors. Strong electrical troubleshooting, refrigerant leak detection, and airflow diagnostic skills. Ability to estimate and quote system replacements, repairs, and maintenance services. Ability to accurately document labor, parts, work orders, and timecards electronically. Ability to maintain company vehicles, tools, truck stock, and inventory. Ability to order appropriate parts and materials for jobs. Ability to train and mentor helpers and apprentices. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with customers and office staff. Ability to work independently and exercise significant judgment. Excellent time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and team-oriented environments. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including weekends, and work out of town as needed. Ability to work safely around heights, chemicals, electrical current, blood exposure, moving machinery, weather, and moderate workplace noise. Ability to exert up to 75 lbs. of force frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience. EPA Section 608 Universal Certification. 3-5 years of hands-on refrigeration experience. 10+ years of total professional experience. Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and components. Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance capabilities.
Pay:
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
