: Refrigeration TechnicianREPORTS TO
Refrigeration SupervisorNARRATIVE
Responsible for maintenance, operation, and management oversight of all leased and/or owned refrigeration systems and cold storage facilities managed by Cowiche Growers, Inc. A thorough knowledge of refrigeration principles, related mechanical systems and "controlled atmosphere" storage of apples and pears is a must. Candidate must be computer literate and able to operate computerized refrigeration monitoring and control programs. Position requires consistent communication and coordination with a wide variety of people. Incumbent must be able to interpret and implement oral and written instructions, make critical decisions daily and oversee all Process Safety Management protocols and needs.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- OPERATIONS
- Responsible for all storage facility maintenance and upkeep including overall aesthetics.
- Requires management of properly trained staff for surveillance and on-call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Reports and acts in accordance with a variety of state, federal and industry requirements.
- Verifies daily inspections of equipment is maintained and that technical adjustments to maintain specified set points are conducted in a timely manner.
- Ensures all equipment is maintained in good, working order and that "down-time" does not have a detrimental effect on operations or fruit condition.
- Properly maintains all records associated with refrigeration, federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
- Reports immediately to the General Manager any out of the ordinary conditions which may affect the storage or condition of the fruit.
- Effectively communicates with a variety of people including senior management, peers, federal/state agencies and industry representatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- FACILITY MAINTENANCE
- Maintains and repairs CA rooms to insure effective long-term storage of fruit.
- Forecasts, plans and executes routine and major maintenance.
- Maintains clean and organized engine rooms and shop areas.
- Inspects and maintains safety systems including sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, etc.

- Responsible for implementation and ongoing maintenance of Ammonia Risk Management (ARM) program.
