SMT Rework Technician Advantest America United States, California, San Jose 3061 Zanker Road (Show on map) Sep 01, 2026 SMT Rework Technician, Electronics Repair Technician Position Summary The SMT Rework Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and reworking surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole electronic assemblies. This role requires expertise in soldering, component replacement, PCB repair, and adherence to IPC workmanship standards to ensure product quality and reliability. Key Responsibilities Perform SMT and through-hole component rework and repair on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
Remove and replace defective components including resistors, capacitors, ICs, BGAs, QFNs, QFPs, connectors, and other electronic devices.
Utilize soldering irons, hot air rework stations, BGA rework equipment, and other specialized tools.
Interpret assembly drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and work instructions.
Inspect assemblies for solder defects, component orientation, missing parts, and workmanship issues.
Perform touch-up soldering and repair activities to meet IPC quality requirements.
Document rework performed and maintain accurate production records.
Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing defects.
Verify repairs through visual inspection and functional testing.
Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Test teams to resolve assembly issues.
Follow all ESD, safety, and quality procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
