Technician Physical Activities + The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position. + Communicates effectively in person or by using telecommunications equipment. Enters and locates information on electronic device. + Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. + Moves up and down a ladder. Moves up and down stairs. Moves, lifts, carries, and places merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. + Observes associate, customer, or supplier behavior. Reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. + Safely operates a motor vehicle. Safely operates large power equipment. Sits for long periods of time. Squats, kneels, or crawls for extended periods of time. Stands for long periods of time. + Visually inspects equipment. Visually locates merchandise and other objects. Creates documents, reports, etc., using a writing instrument (such as a pencil or pen) or electronic device. + Presents information to small or large groups and individuals. Visually verifies and reads information, often in small print Travel _Traveling is necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position._ + Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites requiring consecutive overnight stays. + Works or trains at multiple facilities or distant locations. + (Travel of extended duration, meaning seven days or more, is not required, except for management training and emergency situations.) Work Environment _Working in the following environment is necessary to perform one or more of the essential functions of this position._ + Moves through narrow, confined spaces such as stacks of merchandise or supplies, storage areas, and closets. Minimum Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. + Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment. + Prior work experience in role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards Preferred Qualifications + Training or certification in low voltage systems. + BICSI Installer Certification. + CompTIA certifications for networking (for example, Network+). + Manufacturer-specific certifications (for example, Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems).
