Job Description

Palm Tran is looking for skilled crafted individuals to perform vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repairs in a safe, efficient and timely manner. The incumbent in this position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on transit buses, mechanical equipment and support vehicles (both gasoline and diesel powered), including but not limited to engine adjustment, braking systems, steering/suspension systems, electrical/hydraulic parts and associated components; examines maintenance repairs on related equipment to company and/or manufactures' guidelines to preserve the safety and reliability of set equipment. This is accomplished by working alongside a Maintenance Trainer, Maintenance Technician or at the direction of a Maintenance Supervisor as they complete inspections for vehicle deficiencies through work order or the preventative maintenance process. $28.980 per hour (entry rate) - $34.805 per hour (after successful completion of in-house training) High School Diploma or equivalent certification/GED required. A valid CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL is required. Individuals hired with a CDL but without a Passenger (P) endorsement will receive paid training to obtain the endorsement. A copy of your current driver's license must be included with the application. Two (2) years of related mechanical experience is required, along with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Applicants must obtain Air Conditioning Certification (608/609) within 90 days of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement or have the ability to obtain the required license and endorsement within sixty (60) days of employment, failure to obtain the required driver license within sixty (60) days may be subject to termination. CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement . Heavy-duty vehicle mechanic experience including electrical systems, air conditioning experience, and public transportation experience. Experience driving transit buses or heavy equipment is preferred.
