POSITION DESCRIPTION

Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Police Service Technician to join our team of professionals

Duties Include:

Responds to non-emergency police incidents including lost or missing property, criminal mischief, phone calls of obscene or threatening nature; and directs individuals to file official police report as needed. Responds to accidents not involving injuries and assists with investigations within the specified premise. Assists stranded motorists when so directed. Performs desk officer duties when requested and acts as a public information source. Takes reports of past criminal acts and other non-criminal activity; conducts fingerprinting activity; lifts fingerprints, takes measurements, takes photographs and collects evidence at crime scenes when so directed. Performs crowd control and traffic control functions as directed and at special events pertaining to the College of Medicine. Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator. Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. Submits work orders for observed physical plant problems in HWCOM facilities requiring repair or immediate response due to emergencies (water or gas leaks, broken elevators, etc). Assist maintenance personnel in locating reported problems. Informs occupants of impact including preparing and printing instructions on alternate access routes. Provides assistance with construction projects and updates. Coordinates with Construction personnel serving as on-site liaison for HWCOM Facilities Planning and Operations supervisors. Provides firsthand information on construction issues which may affect HWCOM operations. Provides input to HWCOM Facilities Planning and Operations supervisors on security equipment/location to provide effective monitoring of sensitive areas. Patrols College of Medicine's premises to prevent crime and to insure security of persons and property. Locks and unlocks College of Medicine building and rooms, delivers documents and messages and assists police officers when so requested. Types police reports, controls, correspondence via word processor, and does data entry, when required. Operate a motor vehicle in the performance of these duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma and one (1) year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and/or vocational/technical training.
