Generator Service Technician

Job Opening:
Generator Service Technician Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, safety-minded generator service technician who can confidently install, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial generator systems. This role includes servicing, troubleshooting, upgrades, and customer-facing service calls for whole-home standby generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS). You will work independently and with a crew to deliver high-quality, code-compliant work. Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and service of whole-home standby generators, including functional testing and scheduled maintenance.
  • Install and wire automatic transfer switches (ATS) and related controls; troubleshoot generator/transfer issues as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used; keep service notes and photos organized.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, project managers, and teammates; provide accurate updates and recommendations.
  • Ensure all work meets all code requirements; support permit/inspection processes as needed.
  • Follow safety best practices at all times.
  • Other tasks assigned including, but not limited to, troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, panels, breakers, receptacles, lighting, and equipment. Required Qualifications
  • Generac certification is required
  • Experience working on standby generators and ATS
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting methods, and applicable codes.
  • Proficient with electrical tools and test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, megger as applicable, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently or with a crew; strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a professional, customer-service mindset.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; able to drive a company vehicle as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in varied weather, and climb ladders/perform physical tasks safely. Nice to Have (Preferred)
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or actively working toward licensure).
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems "in and out," including controls, low-voltage, relays, and troubleshooting complex circuits.
  • Experience with water systems and well equipment: well pumps, pressure tanks, control boxes, VFDs, booster pumps, and related diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with water filtration systems, valves, and basic plumbing coordination on mixed-trade projects.
  • Comfort using service software, tablets, and digital work order documentation.
Pay rate will be based on experience (approximately $20-$30). Passing drug test and clean background and motor vehicle history required.
