Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Door Fitter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining doors across various residential and commercial projects. Your expertise will ensure that each door is fitted accurately, functions smoothly, and meets all safety and building code standards. Responsibilities Measure door openings precisely and interpret technical drawings or blueprints to ensure accurate installation. Install a variety of doors including interior, exterior, fire-rated, and custom designs using hand tools and power tools. Perform door hanging tasks such as aligning frames, securing hinges, locks, handles, and other fixtures to ensure proper operation. Conduct glass installation where necessary, ensuring safety standards are met during handling and fitting. Carry out mechanical repairs or adjustments on existing doors to improve functionality or replace worn components. Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations throughout all phases of installation. Use welding or other mechanical skills for specialized door fittings or repairs when required. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to accurately execute complex installations on construction sites. Assist with caulking, sealing, and fixture installation to enhance durability and weatherproofing of doors. Skills Proven experience in door installation, hanging, and related carpentry tasks within construction environments. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform repairs using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. Familiarity with glass installation techniques and safety procedures. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and building plans accurately. Knowledge of building code requirements related to door fitting and safety standards. Excellent customer service skills for interacting professionally with clients during installations or repairs. Physical strength for heavy lifting and working at heights or in confined spaces safely.
