Job Title:
Service Technician Job Description The Service Technician provides technical support, diagnostics, and repair services for a wide range of industrial testing and production equipment at a service center in New Albany, IN. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing defective machinery received from multiple manufacturers, coordinating technical support documentation, and supporting the installation and servicing of products. The position requires a strong understanding of electronics and electro-mechanical systems, as well as hands-on soldering and assembly experience. Responsibilities Diagnose issues and perform detailed troubleshooting on a variety of industrial machines and equipment received at the service center. Repair defective machinery from multiple manufacturers, ensuring equipment is restored to safe and reliable operating condition. Conduct and support the installation, setup, and testing of industrial products and partner products as required. Coordinate the creation, updating, and distribution of technical support documentation to support service activities. Work on different types of equipment daily, applying a thorough understanding of electronics, hardware, software interfaces, and mechanical and pneumatic systems. Perform electronic and mechanical assembly and disassembly as part of repair and maintenance processes. Use soldering techniques to repair or replace electronic components on circuit boards and assemblies. Operate machinery and equipment safely while performing service, testing, and packaging activities. Apply ISO standards and best practices in all service and repair tasks to maintain quality and compliance. Utilize basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and adjustments related to repair and calibration. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance service processes and equipment reliability. Collaborate with colleagues and other technical resources to resolve complex electro-mechanical issues. Handle and move equipment and components safely, including lifting items up to 50 pounds as needed. Essential Skills Minimum of five years' experience in an ISO-regulated manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of electronics, including hardware, software interfaces, and IP addresses. Demonstrated electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, including experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems. Proficiency in soldering electronic components and assemblies. Experience with mechanical and electronic assembly and machine building. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and standards. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds. Experience with machine operation and packaging processes. Familiarity with continuous improvement practices in a production or service environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with production equipment in a manufacturing or service center environment. Knowledge of ISO standards and their application in daily operations. Experience in electrical panel building or related electrical work. Understanding of mechanical assembly and machine building processes. Exposure to pneumatics and pneumatic control systems. Ability to work with multiple product lines and equipment from different manufacturers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in repair and service work. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift position with working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in a service center environment located in New Albany, IN. The role is hands-on and involves working with industrial machinery, electronic components, and mechanical and pneumatic systems. You can expect a workshop-style setting with tools and equipment for electronic assembly, soldering, machine operation, and packaging. The position is physically active, requiring regular handling of equipment and components and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
