Our team is committed to protecting people and property through dependable technology, quality workmanship, and responsive customer service. We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fire Service Technician to install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial fire alarm systems. This position will also support residential and commercial alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and access-control solutions. Position Summary The Fire Service Technician performs fire alarm inspections, preventative maintenance, emergency service, corrective repairs, and system installations. The technician also installs and services residential and commercial security alarms, surveillance cameras, door-access systems, and related low-voltage equipment. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, works well in residential and commercial environments, and understands the importance of protecting customers, their property, and their facilities. Key Responsibilities Fire Alarm and Life Safety Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial fire alarm and life-safety systems. Perform required fire alarm inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, manufacturer instructions, and customer requirements. Diagnose system troubles, ground faults, communication failures, false-alarm conditions, device problems, and other operational issues. Service fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, smoke detectors, duct detectors, pull stations, power supplies, batteries, and related components. Program, configure, and test fire alarm panels and connected devices when qualified and authorized. Identify system deficiencies and clearly document recommended repairs or corrective actions. Assist with fire alarm installations, upgrades, acceptance testing, and customer training. Residential and Commercial Alarm Systems Install, activate, program, service, and upgrade residential and commercial intrusion-alarm systems. Install and service alarm panels, keypads, door and window contacts, motion detectors, glass-break detectors, sirens, panic devices, smoke detectors, carbon-monoxide detectors, and related equipment. Connect and test alarm systems for central-station monitoring using cellular, internet, or other supported communication methods. Diagnose false alarms, communication failures, damaged devices, wiring problems, and other security-system issues. Train customers on system operation, user codes, mobile applications, arming and disarming procedures, and basic troubleshooting. Video-Surveillance Systems Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot residential and commercial surveillance-camera systems. Install indoor and outdoor cameras, video doorbells, network video recorders, digital video recorders, power supplies, PoE switches, and related equipment. Perform camera placement, mounting, focusing, aiming, and field-of-view adjustments. Configure recording schedules, motion detection, alerts, remote viewing, user access, and mobile applications. Diagnose camera connectivity, cabling, power, recording, storage, and image-quality issues. Assist customers with accessing live and recorded video from computers and mobile devices. Document camera locations, network information, device credentials, and system configurations in accordance with company security procedures. Access-Control Systems Install, service, and troubleshoot residential and commercial access-control systems. Support card readers, keypads, door controllers, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, magnetic locks, door contacts, power supplies, and related hardware. Assist with system programming, credential enrollment, access schedules, door groups, user permissions, and audit-report configuration. Diagnose door hardware, reader, controller, communication, power, and locking-device problems. Test door operation, emergency egress, request-to-exit functions, and access-control events. Coordinate with locksmiths, door contractors, electricians, IT personnel, and other trades when required. Provide basic customer training on credentials, user administration, system operation, and reporting. General Service Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, device layouts, inspection reports, and technical manuals. Install and terminate low-voltage cabling in a clean, organized, and professional manner. Prepare accurate service tickets, inspection reports, installation records, deficiency reports, material records, and time entries. Verify that installed or repaired systems operate correctly before leaving the customer's property. Protect customer property and clean the work area following installation or service. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, project managers, inspectors, monitoring personnel, vendors, and other technicians. Coordinate service activities to minimize disruption to homes and business operations. Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, testing equipment, and assigned inventory. Follow company safety procedures and all applicable local, state, and national requirements. Participate in an on-call or emergency-service rotation when required. Support structured cabling and other low-voltage projects based on qualifications and business needs. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience installing, servicing, inspecting, or troubleshooting fire alarm, security alarm, video-surveillance, access-control, or other low-voltage systems. Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, alarm panels, sensors, notification devices, power supplies, batteries, cameras, readers, controllers, and communication modules. Basic understanding of IP networking, including IP addressing, PoE, switches, routers, and network connectivity. Ability to install cabling and devices neatly while minimizing damage or disruption to customer property. Ability to use meters, testing devices, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts safely. Ability to read technical documentation, floor plans, installation instructions, and wiring diagrams. Strong troubleshooting, time-management, and organizational skills. Ability to document work accurately and use mobile service-management applications. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Ability to explain system operation clearly to residential and commercial customers. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass applicable background, drug-screening, licensing, and customer-site requirements. Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and perform physical installation and service tasks. Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service territory. Preferred Qualifications NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems, especially Level I, II, or higher. Louisiana fire alarm, security, or life-safety licensing, or the ability to obtain required credentials. Manufacturer training or hands-on experience with commonly used fire alarm, security, camera, and access-control platforms. Knowledge of
NFPA 72, NFPA
70, applicable building and fire codes, and inspection-documentation requirements. Experience with central-station monitoring, cellular communicators, alarm verification, and account activation. Experience installing IP cameras, video doorbells, NVRs, DVRs, PoE equipment, and remote-viewing applications. Experience with card readers, door controllers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, credentials, and access-control software. Experience with structured cabling, cable certification, network troubleshooting, and other low-voltage systems. OSHA, lift, or related safety certifications.
