Job Description

Position Overview Cutting Edge Computers is looking for a motivated IT Technician. The IT Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining laptops, desktops, and related computer hardware and software. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, performing system upgrades, installing and configuring software, and ensuring all IT equipment operates efficiently and securely. Networking experience is preferred for both implementation and diagnostics on networks. Customer service skills are a must as you will be dealing directly with customers. We offer 401K, PTO, and possible career advancement opportunities. Salary will be dependent upon skills. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair hardware issues on laptops and desktops, including motherboard, RAM, hard drives, and power-related problems. Install, configure, and update operating systems and software applications. Perform virus/malware removal, system cleanup, and software diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance. Conduct data backups and recovery when necessary. Replace or upgrade components to improve performance or extend hardware lifespan. Provide technical support to end users via in-person, phone, or remote assistance. Maintain detailed records of repairs, diagnostics, and parts used. Ensure all systems comply with security protocols and organizational IT policies. Assist in inventory management of IT assets, tools, and spare parts. Stay updated on the latest technology trends, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques. Manage VPN connections and ensure secure access for remote users. Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining clear communication with clients to understand and resolve their IT needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications:
CompTIA A+, CompTIA ITF+, or similar.
Experience:
1-3 years of hands-on experience in computer hardware repair and software troubleshooting.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of Windows, macOS, and common Linux distributions Familiarity with
BIOS/UEFI
configuration and system imaging tools Experience using diagnostic utilities and anti-virus tools. Understanding of computer networking fundamentals is a plus. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Excellent communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple repair tasks simultaneously. Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently or in a team. Working Conditions May require lifting and carrying computer equipment (up to 50 lbs). Occasional on-site visits or after-hours work for urgent repairs or maintenance.
