GFL Environmental is seeking an Industrial Services Technician to lead and perform asbestos abatement and related environmental remediation services. In this role, you will set up containment areas, safely remove and handle asbestos-containing materials, operate industrial cleaning and decontamination equipment, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will complete site documentation, support project planning, and mentor crew members while promoting a strong safety culture. Responsibilities Lead and perform asbestos abatement and industrial cleaning tasks on customer sites Set up and maintain containment, negative air systems, and decontamination units Safely remove, package, label, and load asbestos and other regulated materials for disposal Operate industrial vacuums, pressure washers, and related remediation equipment Follow and enforce OSHA, EPA, and state regulations and company safety policies Conduct pre- and post-job inspections, air monitoring support, and documentation Complete daily logs, work reports, and waste tracking paperwork accurately Train and mentor crew members on proper abatement and safety procedures Coordinate with supervisors, customers, and transport teams to meet project timelines Participate in ongoing safety meetings, drills, and required refresher training Required Skills Asbestos abatement procedures HAZMAT handling Industrial cleaning equipment operation Air monitoring and sampling Reading and following remediation plans OSHA and EPA regulatory compliance PPE use and decontamination Job site documentation and reporting Crew leadership and mentoring Lockout/tagout and confined space awareness
