Responsibilities include performing routine heavy equipment operation in the City's public works department, including garbage truck, loader, skid steer, back hoe, trencher or similar equipment; performing routine and semi-skilled labor in the maintenance of streets, water and sewer lines, and similar work with other municipal structures, facilities and grounds. Work includes repair or replacement of water and sewer pipes, maintenance of streets and pavements, leaf collection, driving a truck, loading and unloading supplies, directing traffic, and other duties, as assigned. Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and 2-4 years' experience operating heavy equipment such as a sanitation truck (rear packer), dump truck, boom truck, skid steer, fork lift, trencher, front-end loaded or equivalent of 2-4 years' experience performing preventative maintenance in buildings, water & sewer lines, street maintenance, and/or grounds facilities. Experience in general building maintenance, carpentry, electrical and plumbing maintenance is desired. Candidates must also be capable of working regular hours, be available to work weekends or holidays, and available for call-in duty in case of emergencies.
