SOLAR SERVICE TECHNICIAN SLM
Energy Solutions LLC New Egypt, NJ 08533 $22.00 - $32.50 an hour - Full-time $22.00 - $32.50 an hour - Full-time Residential Solar Service Technician Job Summary We're looking for a skilled Residential Solar Service Technician to join our renewable energy team. In this role, you'll focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing photovoltaic (PV) systems at residential sites — keeping homeowners' solar investments running safely and efficiently for years to come. You'll bring hands-on electrical expertise, a sharp eye for diagnostics, and a commitment to safety on every job. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys varied work, problem-solving in the field, and helping customers get the most out of their solar systems. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance, system inspections, and performance checks on residential PV systems to maximize output and system lifespan. Diagnose and troubleshoot underperforming or faulty solar systems, identifying issues in inverters, panels, wiring, monitoring equipment, and balance-of-system components. Repair or replace defective equipment, including inverters, optimizers, racking, and wiring, in compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and local code requirements. Read and interpret electrical schematics and as-built drawings to guide service work and confirm correct system configuration. Safely work on residential rooftops, attics, and crawl spaces, using ladders and fall-protection equipment in line with safety protocols. Communicate clearly with homeowners about system findings, repairs performed, and recommendations for ongoing maintenance. Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system performance data. Coordinate with dispatch and service coordinators to manage daily service calls efficiently. Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order. Requirements Prior experience as a solar service technician, electrician, or in residential PV maintenance/repair. Solid understanding of residential-scale low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) electrical systems. Hands-on troubleshooting skills for inverters, monitoring systems, and common PV system faults. Comfortable working at heights and in varied residential settings (rooftops, attics, outdoor installations). Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts. Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) electrical safety standards. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and ladders; forklift experience a plus. Strong customer service skills — comfortable explaining technical issues to homeowners in plain language. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla) a plus. NABCEP certification or equivalent a plus. Experience with residential battery storage systems.
