This position will focus on the day-to-day repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, and preparation of residential/home and commercial coffee equipment at our shop. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical experience, a working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems, and the ability to diagnose and solve equipment problems. We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can help keep our service department organized and running efficiently. This is primarily an in-house position , working alongside our existing technician and service team. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment, preparing equipment for customers, deliveries, and installations, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly before it leaves the shop. There may also be occasional local service calls, installations, or extra support for calls as required. As the role develops, there is an opportunity to expand into additional responsibilities such as parts ordering and management, equipment and project tracking, customer scheduling, and helping coordinate the service department . This is a full-time or part-time position with a flexible schedule , depending on experience and availability. Job Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain residential/home and commercial coffee equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and equipment-related problems. Perform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections. Test and verify equipment performance following repairs. Prepare new, repaired, and refurbished equipment for customer delivery or installation. Perform quality inspections to ensure equipment is operating properly before it leaves the shop. Assist with equipment setup, tear-down, cleaning, and preparation. Use common hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service area. Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records of repairs and equipment status. Identify parts and materials needed for repairs. Assist with occasional local service calls or installations when needed. Work closely with the service manager and other technicians to prioritize repairs and service needs. Help establish and maintain efficient repair and service procedures. Provide technical support to other team members as appropriate. Maintain a professional and customer-service-oriented approach when interacting with customers. As experience with our equipment, customers, and systems develops, additional responsibilities may include: Ordering and managing service parts. Maintaining parts inventory and determining parts needed for upcoming repairs. Tracking equipment, repairs, orders, and service projects. Coordinating equipment preparation and installation projects. Scheduling customer service and maintenance appointments. Communicating with customers regarding equipment status and scheduling. Helping coordinate the workflow and priorities of the service department. Assisting the service manager with day-to-day service operations. Developing preventive maintenance schedules and procedures. Helping train and support other technicians as the team grows. Qualifications Previous professional experience in equipment repair, maintenance, mechanical work, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, or a related hands-on field preferred. Coffee equipment experience is preferred but not required. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. Comfortable using common hand and power tools. Ability to diagnose problems and determine practical solutions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Organized and able to manage multiple repair priorities. Dependable, professional, and customer-service oriented. Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a small team. Strong communication skills. Willingness to learn new equipment and our specific service procedures. Ability and desire to take on additional responsibility as the position develops.
