Job Description

The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing trailers and trucks. This includes welding, brake systems, lights/electrical, flooring, hitches, axles, and other structural or functional trailer components. This role requires hands-on mechanical skill, attention to detail, and pride in quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform repairs on livestock trailers, including: Welding (steel and aluminum) Brake systems (electric and air) Axles, hubs, bearings, suspension Floor repairs (wood, aluminum, cleated) Lighting, wiring, and plug systems Doors, gates, dividers, and hinges Complete preventative maintenance checks Conduct safety inspections prior to customer delivery Communicate clearly with shop manager on repair needs and parts used Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment Document labor hours and repair notes accurately Operate shop equipment safely (torch, grinder, lifts, etc.) Assist other team members as needed
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year experience as a heavy equipment service technician Diesel mechanic experience a plus Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG and/or stick) Basic mechanical knowledge (brakes, axles, electrical) Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various conditions (indoors/outdoors) Reliable, honest, and detail-oriented Valid driver's license and dependable transportation Tools Required (shop provides larger equipment): Hand tools Drill / impact Socket set Grinder Pneumatic chisel Welding helmet
