Position Summary:
The Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing dairy equipment and related mechanical, electrical, automation, refrigeration, and specialty systems while delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining the highest safety standards. This role supports customers through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, emergency service, system upgrades, and technical problem-solving under the direction of the Service Manager. Technicians advance through a competency-based career progression framework that recognizes technical expertise, leadership, performance, and contribution to operational excellence.

The role focuses on delivering safe, high-quality service that supports customer uptime and operational efficiency while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, startup, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, automation, refrigeration, vacuum, pumping, and specialty systems.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and repair dairy refrigeration and related equipment, including compressors, pumps, vacuum systems, cooling towers, boilers, and associated control systems.
- Utilize knowledge of 24VDC, 24VAC, 120VAC, and three-phase electrical systems to complete routine electrical diagnostics, repairs, adjustments, and installations.
- Maintain compliance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, safety policies, environmental regulations, and applicable codes while ensuring safe work practices in all environments.
- Deliver professional customer service by communicating system conditions, repair recommendations, technical findings, and service outcomes while managing customer expectations.
- Complete accurate and timely service reports, work orders, documentation, inventory tracking, parts usage records, labor entries, diagnostics, and corrective action reporting.
- Manage time efficiently while balancing service priorities, administrative responsibilities, and emergency response requirements.
- Participate in emergency on-call service rotations and respond to urgent customer service needs as required.
- Maintain tools, service vehicles, equipment, inventory, cleanliness, and professional appearance in safe and operational condition.
- Collaborate with technicians, managers, vendors, and support teams to resolve customer issues and support operational success.
- Mentor and support developing technicians while participating in technical training, continued skill development, knowledge sharing, and advancement of technical standards and best practices.
- Adapt productively to changing priorities, technologies, customer needs, and business demands.

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain dairy processing systems and related industrial equipment.
- Understanding of industrial electrical, pneumatic, hot water, refrigeration, motor, compressor, gearbox, and pump systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, diagrams, and service documentation.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, specialty equipment, and preventative maintenance procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills with customers, supervisors, and team members.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
- Proficiency with computers and mobile devices for service documentation and communication.
- Commitment to safety, operational excellence, continuous learning, and customer service.
- Ability to mentor and support developing technicians while contributing to training, process improvement, collaboration, and technical growth initiatives.
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
- Knowledge or experience in dairy service, three-phase electrical systems, low-voltage controls, refrigeration, automation, robotics, and pneumatics is preferred.
- Ability to work in agricultural, industrial, and customer environments with frequent standing, lifting, climbing, kneeling, and equipment handling.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
Pay:
$26.00 - $35.00 per hour
