Job Description
The Public Works Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, and construction of public infrastructure. This includes streets, sidewalks, parks, drainage systems, public buildings, and other city facilities.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, roadways, alleys, and sidewalks
- Operate light to heavy equipment such as tractors, mowers, dump trucks, loaders, and power tools
- Maintain parks, landscaped areas, and public grounds, including mowing, trimming, planting, and litter removal
- Assist with water and wastewater system maintenance, including reading meters, repairing leaks, and replacing valves (if applicable to the department)
- Clean and maintain city facilities, buildings, and public spaces
- Perform drainage work such as clearing ditches, culverts, and stormwater lines
- Respond to service requests, emergency situations, and weatherrelated events
- Follow safety procedures and report hazards
- Complete work logs, reports, and documentation as required
