Job Description
Position Summary At dbSpectra, Inc., quality and reliability are at the core of what we build. We are seeking an experienced PCB Repair Technician specializing in RF (Radio Frequency) Electronics to join our team. This role will support incoming inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and verification of custom-designed PCBs used in our RF products. This role will diagnose and repair failures identified during incoming testing as well as field returns, working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to identify recurring problems and improve product reliability. Key Responsibilities Perform incoming inspection and functional testing of PCB assemblies received from vendors. Troubleshoot PCB failures to the component and circuit level using schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and engineering documentation. Perform component-level PCB repair, including SMT and through-hole soldering, desoldering, and rework. Troubleshoot and repair PCB assemblies returned from the field. Use electronic and RF test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers as applicable. Diagnose intermittent, electrical, component, and workmanship-related failures. Re-test repaired assemblies to verify they meet functional and performance requirements. Accurately document failures, troubleshooting steps, repairs, component replacements, and test results. Work with Engineering and Quality to identify root causes and recurring failure modes. Maintain ESD-safe work practices and follow applicable quality, safety, and workmanship standards. Assist with improving test, troubleshooting, and repair procedures. Required Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic/PCB assemblies, or equivalent experience. Strong SMT and through-hole soldering and PCB rework skills. Ability to troubleshoot circuits using schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation. Experience using common electronic test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting. Ability to work independently and accurately document technical findings. Experience working in an ESD-controlled environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience troubleshooting RF or microwave electronics . Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, VNAs, or other RF test equipment. Knowledge of RF circuits, including amplifiers, filters, mixers, oscillators, and impedance matching. IPC soldering/rework certification or equivalent training. Experience with field-return or failure analysis. Experience with custom, low-volume, or high-complexity PCB assemblies. Experience in aerospace, defense, communications, or other high-reliability electronics environments. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on electronics technician who enjoys solving difficult hardware problems. They can systematically troubleshoot a failed PCB, identify the likely root cause, perform a quality repair, and verify the board is fully functional. They are comfortable working independently while collaborating with engineers when failures require deeper investigation.
