Job Title:
Service Technician Job Description The Service Technician covers a regional territory in Northern Virginia providing high-quality service for beverage and restaurant equipment. Under the guidance of operations leadership, this role installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of dispensing and refrigeration systems while working largely independently in the field. The technician ensures reliable operation of equipment, maintains strong customer relationships, and upholds a high standard of service and professionalism. Responsibilities Respond to dispatched service calls promptly and arrive within the estimated time of arrival. Perform preventative maintenance on beverage and restaurant equipment, including carbonated and non-carbonated dispensers, fountain beverage equipment, ice makers, juice dispensers, and related systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related service problems and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Check the quality and performance of all products and machines, including verifying syrup levels, changing out flavors, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surrounding areas. Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, and ensure proper upkeep of the assigned company vehicle. Review completed service orders and work performed with the supervisor, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Keep the supervisor informed of customer concerns, equipment needs, and opportunities to provide additional products or services. Document all work performed in a clear and timely manner and close out all service activities upon completion. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, co-workers, and supervisors to ensure excellent service and collaboration. Perform general warehouse duties as assigned, including cleaning, organizing, rotating product, and assisting with shipping and receiving of equipment, parts, and product. Follow all operational procedures and safety guidelines while using tools, equipment, and company resources. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support service operations and customer satisfaction. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues. Ability to read and interpret basic technical information such as diagrams, instructions, and simple blueprints. Experience or exposure to maintenance and repair of equipment such as soda machines, coffee machines, and residential or light commercial HVAC systems. Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems in a field service environment. Self-motivated, with the ability to stay on task and work effectively with minimal to no supervision. Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple service calls and tasks in a day. Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervisors. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions needed for service tasks, documentation, and inventory. Capability to maintain positive customer relations, interpersonal relationships, and effective team collaboration. Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory on a regular basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience or training in maintenance, HVAC, or mechanical technology. Experience as a service technician, maintenance technician, or in service repair roles. Familiarity with installation and setup of beverage, ice, or dispensing equipment. Comfort working with electrical components and basic electrical troubleshooting. Exposure to residential or light commercial HVAC systems. Ability to interpret simple blueprints or technical diagrams. Technical school education or coursework in HVAC, mechanical, or related fields (supported by a tuition reimbursement plan once permanent). Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is field-based within a defined territory, with most work performed at customer sites such as restaurants and other locations that use beverage and dispensing equipment. Technicians work largely independently in the field while staying connected to their service center for weekly meetings. During the initial 120-day period, new hires work as temporary employees in a training capacity, paired with an experienced service technician to ride along and learn on the job. The company provides a service vehicle, uniforms, tools, a cell phone, a tablet, and a gas card to support daily operations. The environment involves hands-on mechanical and electrical work, traveling between locations, and occasional warehouse duties such as cleaning, organizing, rotating product, and handling shipping and receiving of equipment, parts, and product. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfax, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
