Job Description

Position Overview We are looking for a motivated Fiber Technician to support the installation, servicing, and maintenance of residential fiber optic networks. In this role, you will perform field-based work that includes installing new fiber connections, diagnosing service issues, and completing repairs to help ensure reliable broadband and telecommunications services for customers. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, is comfortable working in different field environments, and has experience with telecommunications infrastructure or similar utility services. Attention to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction is essential. This is a full-time W-2 employment position offering long-term career opportunities within a growing telecommunications company. Primary Responsibilities Complete residential fiber optic installations, service calls, and repair work while meeting company quality standards. Perform fiber splicing, cable routing, and network testing to verify proper operation and signal performance. Install, configure, and replace telecommunications equipment, including routers, network devices, and customer hardware when required. Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues affecting fiber services by using appropriate testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques. Build and maintain underground or aerial cable pathways, depending on project requirements, while following established procedures. Accurately record completed work, materials used, and testing results through the company's reporting system. Follow all company policies, customer specifications, and OSHA safety requirements while working in the field. Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe working condition. Communicate professionally with customers by providing installation updates, explaining completed work, and addressing basic service-related questions. Work closely with supervisors and fellow technicians to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Qualifications Previous experience in fiber optic installation, telecommunications, broadband services, or a related technical field is preferred. Familiarity with fiber optic infrastructure, cable routing, network setup, and service-related activities. Ability to safely operate standard field tools and equipment used for installation, maintenance, and repair work. Basic understanding of networking concepts, internet connectivity, and customer premises equipment. Experience with low-voltage systems, troubleshooting techniques, and field diagnostics is considered an advantage. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently. Comfortable working independently, managing assigned work orders, and adapting to changing field conditions. Valid driver's license and a commitment to following company procedures and safety requirements.
