Only candidates permitted to work in the US will be considered for this role Join our team and help support the retirement of legacy telecommunications infrastructure across carrier networks throughout California. We are seeking experienced Telecom Decommissioning Technicians to perform mission-critical decommissioning activities within live carrier environments including Central Offices (COs), carrier hotels, telecommunications facilities, and colocation sites. This position requires technicians who understand that protecting network integrity is the highest priority and that preventing service outages always takes precedence over completing a task. The ideal candidate has experience working within carrier transport networks, is highly detail-oriented, can work independently, and communicates effectively with both customers and remote operations personnel. Responsibilities Responsibilities Perform site surveys to locate and verify telecommunications equipment scheduled for decommissioning. Identify equipment using Telecommunications Identifiers (TIDs) and client decommissioning software. Verify equipment status prior to any decommissioning activity. Measure and document DC/AC power readings using clamp meters. Verify fiber activity using non-intrusive fiber clamp meters. Document equipment location, fuse positions, cable routing, power readings, fiber status, and field observations. Communicate with network operations whenever equipment status is unclear or appears active. Perform authorized equipment power-down procedures. Disconnect fiber, power, and Ethernet connections following successful decommissioning. Apply required decommission labels and capture photographic documentation. Coil and secure removed cabling in accordance with project standards. Maintain accurate project documentation throughout all phases of work. Follow all customer safety, security, and operational procedures. Protect network integrity by following established procedures and stopping work whenever uncertainty exists. Skills required Required Skills Telecommunications equipment identification Central Office (CO) experience Carrier hotel and colocation facility experience Transport network infrastructure Fiber Distribution Frames (FDF) and Fiber Distribution Panels (FDP) AC/DC clamp meter operation Non-intrusive fiber clamp meter operation Basic telecommunications test equipment Equipment verification Power measurement and documentation Technical documentation and reporting Critical thinking and troubleshooting Professional customer communication Ability to work independently Preferred Experience Telecommunications decommissioning Carrier network operations Legacy transport infrastructure Fiber testing and labeling Live network maintenance environments Educational Requirements Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training in Telecommunications or equivalent field experience preferred. Previous experience working within live carrier telecommunications environments strongly preferred.
