Position Classification Network Design Technologies Inc. (NDT) is expanding its commercial field-service coverage throughout the Baltimore-Washington, DC corridor and is seeking two experienced Telecommunications Field Technicians . This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity providing assignment-based commercial telecommunications and technology services. Starting compensation is $45.00 per hour , with assignments offered based on customer demand, technician location, experience, qualifications, and availability. Candidates must have reliable transportation, standard telecommunications tools, and the ability to service assignments generally within 60-90 minutes of their home location . Technicians located between Baltimore and Washington are strongly encouraged to apply because assignments may be available throughout both markets. A refundable $35 background check is required if selected. Contractor Insurance Requirement All technicians engaged by NDT as 1099 independent contractors must maintain active contractor/business liability insurance. Proof of active insurance coverage is required before a technician can complete onboarding or receive assignments from NDT. A valid Certificate of Insurance (COI) must be provided, reviewed, and approved before activation. Candidates who do not currently maintain the required contractor/business liability insurance will not be eligible for activation or assignment until compliant coverage is obtained and verified by NDT. Commercial clients only. No residential service work. Position Overview NDT is seeking experienced field technicians capable of independently installing, troubleshooting, repairing, relocating, and supporting commercial telecommunications, network, and low-voltage systems.

Assignments may include:

Structured cabling and network infrastructure CAT5e/CAT6 installation, termination, testing, and labeling Commercial telephone and internet systems Wi-Fi and network equipment installation Equipment racks, patch panels, backboards, and related infrastructure Site surveys and technical assessments Moves, adds, and changes Troubleshooting and service calls Equipment installation and replacement Related commercial low-voltage field services Ideal candidates may be located in or around Baltimore, Columbia, Laurel, Jessup, Bowie, Greenbelt, College Park, Silver Spring, Washington, DC , or surrounding communities that provide practical access to both Baltimore and Washington. Technicians generally work independently unless the Scope of Work (SOW) requires multiple technicians. Key Responsibilities Review and follow detailed work orders and Scopes of Work Complete assigned work independently and professionally Pull, terminate, test, label, and document telecommunications cabling Install structured cabling in accordance with applicable industry standards Mount backboards, racks, patch panels, cable-management hardware, and related equipment Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications and network equipment Perform commercial site surveys, troubleshooting, and corrective service Communicate effectively with NDT dispatch, customers, site contacts, and remote technical-support teams Maintain accurate job documentation Submit required photographs, test results, signatures, notes, and closeout information Protect customer and company property while working at commercial facilities A detailed required-tool list will be provided before the interview. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of telecommunications, structured-cabling, low-voltage, or related field-service experience Demonstrated commercial field-service experience Experience with structured cabling, telecommunications, networking, or related low-voltage systems Experience terminating and testing CAT5e/CAT6 cabling Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently and follow detailed technical scopes Professional customer-service and communication skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Willingness to travel throughout the Baltimore-Washington service corridor Standard telecommunications hand tools and appropriate field equipment Active contractor/business liability insurance, with the ability to provide a valid Certificate of Insurance before activation A technical diploma in telecommunications, networking, electronics, or equivalent practical field experience is preferred but not required.
