Job Description As an Underground Utility Locate Technician , you'll help protect critical infrastructure by identifying and marking underground utility lines before excavation begins. Using computer based utility maps, specialized locating equipment, and your problem solving skills, you'll locate utilities such as gas, electric, telecommunications, and other underground lines. This is an active, hands-on position that combines technology, field work, problem-solving, and independence . Job Responsibilities Travel to assigned job sites to respond to routine utility locate requests, relocates, and emergency requests Use mapping technology, utility records, and specialized locating equipment to identify underground utilities Locate and mark underground electric, gas, telephone, telecommunications, and other utility lines Clearly mark utility locations using paint, flags, and other approved methods. Communicate utility locations and relevant information to excavators, contractors, and other appropriate personnel Follow company safety procedures and industry standards while working in the field Maintain accurate records and documentation of completed locate requests Participate in after hours on call rotation schedule when applicable Drive a company vehicle to and from assigned work locations All other duties assigned by manager Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic Ability to use a computer, smartphone, and other technology Valid driver's license in the applicable state of employment Ability to work independently and manage assigned work throughout the day Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends when business needs require it Work Schedule Monday through Friday Full Time with the possibility of weekend work when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule.
