Overview Join our dynamic team as a Fiber Installation Foreman and lead the deployment of cutting-edge fiber optic networks! In this energetic role, you will oversee field service operations, operate the excavator and pull & splice fiber for commercial installation. Your expertise will drive the installation, splicing, and testing of telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring our network infrastructure is reliable, efficient, and ready to meet the demands of today's digital world. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate fiber optic system installation projects in outdoor and construction environments, ensuring adherence to safety standards and project timelines. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, excavators, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently during cable deployment and infrastructure setup. Trench and lay conduit prior to pulling the fiber Lead telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing, and testing activities using diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to guarantee optimal network performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation plans to accurately execute cabling and network infrastructure setups. Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations including trenching, conduit placement, grounding, and cable pulling while adhering to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Perform technical troubleshooting support for fiber optic networks, diagnosing issues with engineering troubleshooting techniques and utilizing tools like voltmeters and diagnostic software. Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to low voltage systems, climbing procedures, and electrical standards while maintaining a safe work environment for all team members. Requirements Proven experience in field service operations within telecommunications or construction industries with outdoor work exposure. Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, telecommunications testing equipment, network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Ethernet), and telephony systems. Skilled in heavy equipment operation including bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and construction machinery. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting procedures related to fiber optic systems. Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), low voltage wiring practices, and outdoor construction safety standards. Experience with telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing techniques, and testing procedures for fiber optic networks. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively while maintaining high safety standards. Physical ability to climb ladders or poles regularly; comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Technical proficiency with computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN configurations; experience with telecommunication infrastructure projects is a plus.
