Job Description

Job Summary Join IBEW Local Union 96's team as a Tel-Communications Data Fusion Splice Technician, where you will be at the forefront of building and maintaining critical telecommunication infrastructure. This role involves performing fiber optic splicing, cable installation, and network setup to ensure seamless data transmission across various platforms. You will work in diverse environments, utilizing heavy equipment and hand tools to deliver high-quality connectivity solutions that keep communities connected and businesses running smoothly. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of telecommunications networks, supporting vital IT infrastructure and communication systems. Performing fusion splicing and verification testing. Troubleshooting and repairing fiber optic cables. Completing all required testing and documentation. Maintaining and organizing vehicles, equipment, and tools. Ensuring safety for all personnel at the job site. Adhering to customer-specific requirements while working on networks. Conducting heavy physical labor as needed. Valid Driver's License Be able to discriminate between colors DOT physical, drug test, and RMV driving record required Not be afraid of heights or confined spaces 2 to 4 years' experience Must be available to work any shift and On-call rotation required Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficient Computer skills Have the ability to travel up to 50% of time, including overnight(s) Responsibilities Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing to establish robust telecommunication links. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, cranes, and power tools safely to install and maintain network infrastructure. Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, and low voltage wiring for telephony and data networks. Read schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans to accurately execute installation tasks. Climb poles or structures using appropriate climbing gear to access overhead lines or equipment. Conduct routine inspections of fiber optic cables, electrical connections, and network components to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards. Experience Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunications or construction environments. Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks or cranes used in cable installation projects. (A plus) Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with a solid understanding of telecommunication systems. Knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, and IT infrastructure components. Familiarity with schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and construction plans for network deployment. Ability to work at heights using climbing techniques safely in outdoor or indoor settings. Strong background in electrical work or low voltage systems with experience in telephony or network infrastructure installation. Pay:
$40.00 - $70.00 per hour
