Full Time About Federated Service Solutions Federated Service Solutions delivers technology solutions and field services for customers with complex, multi-site environments. Our teams succeed by taking ownership of the work, communicating clearly, solving problems before they grow, and keeping the customer's success at the center of the job. For this position, that means treating every customer site with care, keeping commitments, adapting when field conditions change, and taking responsibility for the quality of the finished installation. Who We're Looking For This is a hands-on field position for someone who understands structured cabling, network infrastructure, wireless access points, network equipment, fiber, testing, certification, and troubleshooting. You will install alongside the crew while also coordinating work, solving field problems, communicating with project stakeholders, and making sure the entire scope is completed correctly. The right candidate must also represent FSS professionally at every customer site. That means maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance, communicating respectfully, treating customer environments with care, and setting the standard for the technicians and subcontractors working alongside you. Technical Work You'll Perform A strong background in network installations is essential for this role. You will be expected to actively participate in installation, testing, certification, and troubleshooting activities, including: Structured cabling installation and termination Network infrastructure installation Network equipment installation and replacement Wireless access point installation Copper cabling testing and certification Fiber optic cabling installation Mechanical fiber terminations Fiber fusion splicing Fiber testing and certification POS equipment installation Low-voltage troubleshooting and problem resolution Installation quality verification Project closeout What You Bring 3+ years of hands-on low-voltage installation experience Strong hands-on experience with network installations and network infrastructure Demonstrated experience installing network equipment, structured cabling, wireless access points, and related low-voltage systems Demonstrated experience leading technicians, subcontractors, or field crews Strong low-voltage installation and troubleshooting skills Experience installing, terminating, testing, and certifying structured cabling Hands-on fiber experience, including mechanical terminations and fusion splicing Ability to use appropriate testing and certification equipment Ability to interpret a scope of work and project documentation and translate requirements into field execution Ability to troubleshoot technical and installation issues without losing sight of schedule or customer impact Clear, proactive communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders A consistently professional demeanor and appearance when working in customer-facing environments Valid driver's license Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required Relevant trade school, technical training, or post-secondary education in telecommunications, networking, electronics, or a related field is preferred. Nice to Have OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training, BICSI Installer or Technician credentials, FOA CFOT or comparable fiber optic certification, manufacturer-specific copper or fiber certifications, and aerial or scissor lift training are all beneficial but not required. Experience with enterprise network deployments, multi-site technology rollouts, active customer environments, subcontractor coordination, and installation closeout packages is also valuable. Who Shouldn't Apply This role is not a fit for someone who wants to supervise from the sidelines, has limited network installation experience, or is uncomfortable being the professional face of FSS on a customer site. It will also not be a good match for someone who waits for others to solve field problems, avoids difficult conversations about workmanship, communicates major roadblocks too late, or does not take pride in personal presentation, site conduct, and the quality of the finished work. Travel & Schedule This is a field-based position with work predominantly at customer sites throughout Michigan. Interstate travel may also be required based on project and customer needs. A valid driver's license is required. Project requirements may include evening, overnight, and weekend work. The work may involve extended periods of standing and walking, climbing ladders, working from lifts, working above ceilings and in active construction or customer environments, and lifting or moving equipment and installation materials. What Success Looks Like A successful Local Low Voltage Lead Technician leaves a site knowing the network installation and overall scope are complete, tested, documented, and ready for the customer. Your crews know what is expected of them. Workmanship issues are addressed instead of passed downstream. Project Management knows the real status of the job. Problems are raised early enough to solve them. Required closeout information arrives on time. Just as importantly, the customer sees a professional, organized, technically capable lead who represents FSS well, communicates with confidence, and takes responsibility for delivering what was promised.
