Contract to Hire Job Description We are seeking an experienced Installer II to perform hands-on telecommunications installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and retrofit work. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of telecom field service or installation experience and is comfortable working with fiber and copper cabling, racks, equipment, and technical documentation. This position requires 50-75% travel, including overnight stays of 1-2 weeks at a time. Candidates must be able to work in central offices, construction, and installation environments.Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of telecommunications field service or installation experience.
- Experience with cable installation, termination, labeling, lacing, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with rack, frame, shelf, patch panel, and telecom equipment installation.
- Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling, power systems, and grounding systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, specifications, and job documentation.
- Familiarity with AT&T TP-76300/76409, Telcordia GR1275, and Verizon IP72202 standards.
- Basic Installation training or equivalent on-the-job training required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, and MS Office.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and work on ladders and in confined spaces.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, label, lace, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling.
- Install and mount racks, frames, shelves, patch panels, and non-powered equipment.
- Perform continuity and verification testing.
- Install and maintain grounding and power-related systems as applicable.
- Interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and job scopes.
- Perform retrofits, upgrades, and modifications to existing telecom infrastructure.
- Diagnose and correct cabling and connectivity issues.
- Maintain installation quality and follow established safety, PPE, ESD, and quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory and work-hour records.
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members.
- Provide guidance or training to less-experienced installers when required.
- Travel 50-75%, including overnight assignments of 1-2 weeks and occasional weekend work.
- Safely perform physical work including lifting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
