Job Description

HarvestBeam is seeking part-time and full-time Broadband Field Installation Technicians responsible for performing fixed wireless installations throughout the Grifton/Ayden/Winterville/Vanceboro areas in the near term and neighboring communities and counties in the long term. This candidate will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of HarvestBeam as they will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining HarvestBeam's next generation fixed wireless broadband network equipment at each residential and business end user premises. HarvestBeam is a small but growing team of rural broadband expansion and technology leaders who are passionate about improving people's lives with exceptional broadband connectivity and outstanding customer service throughout Eastern North Carolina.
Core responsibilities:
  • Install licensed fixed wireless broadband equipment on the roof of buildings, private homes, and offices.
  • Perform installation construction jobs at high elevations (i.e. poles and roofs) and complete work using ladders and in some cases bucket truck lifts.
  • Demonstrate and explain the use of HarvestBeam's licensed fixed wireless broadband equipment to customers of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Keep records of installations, repairs, inventory and maintenance
  • Adjust or calibrate equipment settings to optimize network thruput and performance.
  • Test equipment to make certain that it is working correctly.
  • Replace or repair malfunctioning, damaged, or faulty equipment.
  • Service and inspect wiring, cabling, and other existing conduit into the home or office to determine best path for delivering ethernet from the roof to modem inside the premises.
  • Clean up after each customer installation; including, but not limited to boxes, pieces of cable, sheetrock dust from cutting wall plate hole, etc.
Core Competencies:
  • Familiarity with computer systems, repairs and routers.
  • Knowledge and interest in the rural broadband sector
  • Experience with construction and attaching equipment outside of the home.
  • Knowledge of cable crimping tools, wiring and cabling.
  • Must be comfortable working on elevated structures.
  • Ability to conduct equipment set up and testing for proper functionality
  • Basic knowledge of computer configuration, networking and/or ethernet cabling helpful
  • Must have a valid driver license due to daily travel within our geographical footprint and maintain insurability through our company policy.
  • Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Responsibilities may require flexible work schedules

  • Training will be provided to learn how to use the equipment.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
