Role:
We are a growing Managed Service Provider seeking a reliable, part-time field technician to provide on-site deployment, hardware installation, and "smart hands" infrastructure support across New Jersey. This role handles a mix of legacy telecom support (Avaya/Panasonic) and modern cloud-based phone deployments. You will act as our eyes and ears on-site, handling physical racking, patching, and endpoint setups and basic configuration while coordinating directly with our remote engineering and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Smart Hands Support:
Perform on-site physical hardware deployments, rack-mounting switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points safely and cleanly.
Cloud & Telecom Deployments:
Unbox, provision, and deploy cloud-based VoIP endpoints, as well as support legacy Avaya and Panasonic hardware.
Line Troubleshooting:
Tone, trace, and label existing voice and data lines. Punch down and terminate cables on patch panels, 110 blocks, and 66 blocks.
Remote Collaboration:
Act as the local hands for remote engineers—swapping cables, verifying LED status lights, power-cycling equipment, and running basic diagnostic tests.
Requirements:
Proven experience handling rack-mounting, equipment placement, and clean patch-cable management. Strong hands-on experience toning wires, tracing faults, and terminating Cat5e/Cat6 lines. Familiarity with cloud-hosted phone systems (VoIP/UCaaS) provisioning, alongside basic legacy telecom hardware knowledge.
