Job Description
Our Essex County, NJ SaaS client is seeking a Senior Azure Network & Security Engineer to help build and modernize complex network infrastructure spanning Azure, on-premises, and hybrid cloud environments. This role will be a key technical contributor to cloud transformation initiatives, with responsibility for Azure networking, network security, routing, and automation. The successful candidate will bring extensive enterprise networking experience along with hands-on expertise in modern cloud environments. This individual will also provide technical guidance, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers. Ideally this person will be a seasoned network engineer who has evolved beyond traditional data center environments and has applied that expertise to Azure, cloud security, hybrid networking, and automation. Key Responsibilities Design, engineer, and deploy secure networking solutions across Azure, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Develop scalable network architectures supporting enterprise applications, infrastructure, and users. Configure and optimize routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, MP-BGP, VXLAN, EVPN, and network overlays. Implement and support network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, proxies, NAC, and segmentation. Support load balancing, CDN, traffic management, and related application delivery technologies. Identify opportunities to automate network configuration, provisioning, deployment, and operational processes. Act as a senior escalation point for complex networking and security issues. Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, application, and architecture teams to develop and deliver technical solutions. Evaluate new technologies through proofs of concept, lab testing, and technical evaluations. Develop and maintain network architecture documentation, standards, diagrams, and operational procedures. Provide technical mentorship and help establish engineering best practices. Required Qualifications 10+ years of enterprise networking and/or network security engineering experience, including architecture and design. Significant hands-on experience with Azure networking and cloud infrastructure. Advanced understanding of BGP and OSPF, including experience with MP-BGP, VXLAN, EVPN, and network overlays. Strong experience with firewalls, VPNs, proxies, NAC, and network segmentation. Background in data center networking, virtual networking, and hybrid cloud connectivity. Familiarity with load balancing, CDNs, and application delivery technologies. Strong knowledge of network architecture, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Experience using packet analysis, flow data, telemetry, and monitoring tools to diagnose complex network issues. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide technical leadership and influence architectural decisions. Preferred Qualifications Experience with network automation using Ansible and/or Python. Industry certifications such as Cisco, Arista, CISSP, or comparable credentials. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
