Duties Install, configure, and test low-voltage systems including structured cabling, fiber optic networks, CCTV surveillance, VoIP telephony, and Ethernet wiring. Troubleshoot and repair telecommunications equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, and other network hardware using diagnostic tools. Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to ensure high-speed data transmission capabilities. Conduct network wiring and cabling for data centers, offices, and industrial facilities following NEC standards and schematics. Test telecommunication systems using specialized testing equipment like ohmmeters, RF testers, and LAN analyzers to verify proper operation. Terminate cables (Cat5, Cat6) and perform cable management to ensure organized and reliable connections. Collaborate with clients during service calls to provide excellent customer service while explaining system functions and troubleshooting steps clearly. Skills Extensive knowledge of low-voltage electrical wiring, structured cabling installation, and telecommunications systems. Proficiency with computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and network wiring standards. Experience with fiber splicing, fiber optic system installation, and testing of fiber optic networks. Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, RF testers, and telecommunication testing equipment. Strong understanding of schematics for telecommunications wiring diagrams and network layouts. Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues related to VoIP systems, radio frequency (RF) testing, and telephony solutions like Avaya. Familiarity with NEC electrical codes for low-voltage installations and safety procedures involving AC/DC electrical systems. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients during service visits or system installations. Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, cable termination techniques, and equipment repair in field service environments.
