Kit Carson Internet is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Residential Internet Service Technician to provide basic networking, troubleshooting, and repair services at customers' homes and small businesses. This position serves as a direct point of contact between Kit Carson Internet and its customers. The technician will diagnose common internet connectivity problems, repair or replace customer-premises equipment, assist with Wi-Fi setup and education, document completed work, and escalate advanced network or infrastructure issues to the appropriate team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, communicating with customers, using basic hand and networking tools, and traveling throughout the Kit Carson Internet service area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Travel to customers' homes and small businesses to complete scheduled service calls. Diagnose basic internet connectivity, speed, Wi-Fi coverage, and equipment problems. Install, configure, test, repair, or replace customer-premises equipment, including routers, Wi-Fi access points, power supplies, and related cabling. Inspect fiber-optic terminal equipment and connections for visible damage, loose connections, loss of power, or other common issues. Perform basic Ethernet cabling, termination, testing, and repair. Connect customer devices to wired or wireless networks when appropriate. Verify internet service performance using approved testing procedures and equipment. Identify the difference between customer equipment problems, in-home wiring issues, and network-related service problems. Escalate fiber, outside-plant, network, or other advanced technical issues to qualified personnel. Explain repairs, equipment operation, Wi-Fi placement, and basic troubleshooting steps to customers in clear, respectful language. Complete work orders accurately, including test results, equipment changes, materials used, photographs, and customer notes. Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, vehicle, replacement equipment, and inventory. Follow all company safety requirements, operating procedures, and customer privacy policies. Communicate delays, unresolved problems, safety concerns, and recurring service issues to the appropriate supervisor. Participate in training and maintain current knowledge of Kit Carson Internet equipment, services, and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Basic understanding of home networking, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, routers, and internet-connected devices. Ability to use smartphones, tablets, computers, work-order systems, and basic network-testing tools. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Ability to follow written procedures and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to maintain accurate service records. Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area. Ability to pass any required background check, driving-record review, and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with an internet service provider, telecommunications company, cable provider, IT help desk, electronics repair business, or similar organization. Experience installing or troubleshooting residential internet and Wi-Fi equipment. Experience with Ethernet cable termination and testing. Familiarity with fiber-to-the-home systems and optical network terminals. Basic knowledge of IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, latency, signal testing, and network speed testing. Technical training or industry certifications related to networking, telecommunications, or information technology. Bilingual communication skills, particularly English and Spanish, are a plus.
