Fiber Technician - Network Installation & Service The Position Join Signal Cable Inc. as a Fiber Technician and take part in residential and commercial fiber projects involving new connections, network servicing, fault resolution, and ongoing infrastructure work. The job is performed primarily in the field, with technicians moving between assigned locations and handling the technical work necessary to establish or restore fiber connectivity. Each assignment must be completed with attention to workmanship, safety, accurate reporting, and the requirements of the individual project. This is a full-time W-2 position with continued field assignments and opportunities to expand your experience within telecommunications operations. Typical Assignments Workloads change according to customer demand and current projects. On a typical assignment, technicians may be responsible for: Setting up and completing fiber connections at designated locations. Splicing fiber and verifying that completed connections are operating correctly. Testing existing lines and locating faults affecting network performance. Completing service calls, corrective work, and scheduled maintenance. Using appropriate tools and testing equipment to diagnose technical issues. Recording job completion information, materials, production activity, and test results. Reviewing completed work and correcting deficiencies identified during quality checks. Following customer specifications and project-specific installation procedures. Providing supervisors with timely information regarding completed jobs, delays, access issues, or unusual field conditions. Taking proper care of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles used during daily operations. Safety requirements apply throughout every assignment. Technicians must observe applicable OSHA standards , company procedures, and any additional rules established for a particular work site. Experience That Translates Well Previous work involving fiber optics, broadband, telecommunications, utility infrastructure, cable installation, or other hands-on technical services is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable working with field tools, testing equipment, and mobile devices used to receive assignments and document completed work. Familiarity with fiber connectivity, network components, and basic troubleshooting practices is beneficial. Beyond technical ability, the position requires good judgment, organization, clear communication, and the ability to resolve problems as field conditions change. Technicians should be capable of managing individual assignments while also coordinating effectively with supervisors and other members of the operations team. What You'll Need in the Field A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required, as technicians travel regularly between assigned locations.

Be comfortable working outdoors and adapting to changing job-site conditions. How Earnings Are Structured This position uses a production-based compensation model . Earnings are influenced by the amount and type of completed work, project requirements, and individual production. As a W-2 position, compensation is administered in accordance with applicable federal and state minimum-wage and overtime requirements .
