Fiber Technician - Field Operations Position Overview Signal Cable Inc. is seeking reliable Fiber Technicians to support ongoing fiber optic network projects. This is a hands-on field position involving fiber installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and routine service work. Technicians are expected to complete assigned work safely and accurately while maintaining company quality standards and providing professional service at customer and project locations. The position requires good judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing field conditions. This is a full-time W-2 employment position with ongoing opportunities within our telecommunications operations. Field Operations & Responsibilities Daily assignments may include installing and routing fiber optic cable, performing splicing and testing, troubleshooting connectivity problems, completing repairs, and supporting network maintenance activities. Technicians are responsible for keeping accurate records of completed work, materials used, test information, time, and other required job details. All assignments must meet applicable company procedures, client specifications, and quality requirements. Safety is an essential part of this position. Technicians must follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and job-site procedures while protecting customer property, existing utilities, and surrounding infrastructure. Any damage, safety concern, service interruption, or unusual field condition must be reported promptly. Company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials must be handled responsibly and maintained in proper working condition. Technicians are also expected to maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding completed assignments, delays, technical issues, and daily job progress. Skills & Qualifications Candidates should be comfortable performing hands-on technical work and using standard hand tools, field equipment, and mobile devices. Strong troubleshooting skills, practical decision-making, and the ability to organize and prioritize assigned work are important for success in this position. Professional communication and customer service skills are required, as technicians regularly interact with customers, supervisors, and other field personnel. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required. Daily travel between assigned work locations should be expected. Depending on project needs, technicians may also be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays. Field Requirements Candidates must maintain a professional appearance while representing Signal Cable Inc. and have access to a truck, van, or SUV suitable for field operations . Technicians are expected to maintain the required tool set for their assigned work. Employment is also subject to applicable background screening and drug-testing requirements in accordance with federal, state, and local law.
