General Communications is one of Wisconsin's largest two-way radio dealers with thousands of customers in Wisconsin and Illinois. It is a family-owned business with five locations in Madison, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Rapids, and McHenry, IL. General Communications is fully versed in the newest advances in technology, from digital two-way radios to 9-1-1 dispatch systems, in addition to sales and rentals, service and repair, installations, vehicle lighting and custom vinyl lettering/graphics/signs.
Summary:
The Assistant Low Voltage Field Technician will oversee the development and execution of systems and projects for public safety and Cellular Distributed Antenna Systems in the Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago area.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Delivering equipment to job sites. Interfacing with design engineers, project managers, sub-contractors, and customers for the successful installation of systems. Interfacing with customers and installation crews as needed to keep both Gencomm DAS team and customers informed of progress of installations(s)/Projects. Submitting/tracking materials and equipment required for installation. Demonstrating proficiency in using test equipment after training. Perform basic troubleshooting of the system in the field. Installing and termination of cabling and connectors. Working with the technical support staff to address and solve problems to customer's satisfaction. Working with other team members to provide field data to complete proposals and projects accurately and efficiently. Completing site surveys walks to provide data to PM and designers for troubleshooting. Update, document, and file job related documentation to appropriate locations for record keeping. Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory
Qualifications/Requirements:
Ability to pass a drug test, background check and driving check Must have a current valid driver license. High School diploma or equivalent, technical school, or related training Must possess excellent communication and listening skills. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Be able to lift upwards of 50 lbs unassisted. Repeatedly ascend and descend ladders ranging from 6-14ft. Walk continuously throughout the jobsite while carrying ladders, tools, and installation materials. Work indoor/outdoor with variable conditions. Demonstrate ability to work in a professional manner at all job sites. Demonstrate ability to think analytically. Demonstrate ability to work independently as projects require, while working with a sense of urgency. Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools needed for installation projects. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
