Job Description

Ship repair superintendent manages and oversees government marine repair, maintenance, and dry-docking projects to ensure vessels are safe, seaworthy, and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities Project Management:
Plan, schedule, and direct ship repair projects from initial specifications to final delivery.
On-Site Supervision:
Coordinate daily operations, work crews, and subcontractors across multiple trades.
Compliance & Safety:
Inspect vessels and enforce strict adherence to maritime and environmental safety standards.
Budget & Logistics:
Monitor project budgets, approve material requirements, and manage equipment deployment.
Communication:
Serve as the main point of contact between vessel owners, shipmasters, contractors, and port authorities.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime field (or equivalent sea-going experience).
Experience:
Prior hands-on experience in shipyard operations, dry-dock management, or marine engineering (often advancing from roles like Chief Engineer).
Skills:
Strong leadership, critical path scheduling, technical blueprint interpretation, and crisis management.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), pass respirator fitness tests, and frequently climb ladders or navigate heavy industrial shipyard environments.
