COMPANY, is seeking marine mechanics for the Riviera Beach facility:

Job Summary:

Performs complex mechanical installations and repairs, utilizing knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and engines. Ability to install complete mechanical systems without close supervision. Able to meet schedule and budget for project. Work is completed under minimal supervision of a lead man or supervisor. May train a Level 1 Mechanic.

Essential Duties:

1. Specializes in mechanical repair of boat systems (turbodiesel engines, plumbing, hydraulics) and troubleshoots and makes recommendations for corrective action. 2. Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, installation manuals, and schematics. 3. Places and secures plumbing fixtures (head, sinks) and refrigeration (ice box) and applies sealant. Installs/repairs intake and discharge fittings to provide water for plumbing and engine cooling. 4. Cuts holes for valves, outlets, and drives. Inserts valve and outlet fittings through hole to provide watertight fit. 5. Installs other machinery such as motors, pumps, auxiliary systems, and struts, bearings, and underwater gear. 6. Installs drive systems such as propellers, shafts and transmissions. 7. Has the ability to troubleshoot system problems and provide creative solutions for difficult system installations and repairs. 8. Minor woodworking, basic fiberglass and light metal fabrication may be expected. 9. Understands company charging processes and billing procedures. 10. Direct and frequent contract with clients and boat captains to assess and correct problems which requires diplomacy and excellent communication/people skills. 11. Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks. 12. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area. 13. All work to be performed to Viking Company quality standards. 14. Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:

Vocational technical school degree/certification or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Two (2) to four (4) years experience in marine field Specialization and/or certification in: Diesel Mechanics Basic computer skills Basic reading, writing, and math (metric) skills Knowledge and operation of portable drill; vacuum; wrenches, pliers, tape, testers, voltmeters, pressure gauge. Basic mechanic tool set and metric SAE standard mechanic tool set furnished by employee. Most tools, other than power, must be furnished by employee.

Physical Requirements:

Lift and Carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis (over 40% and up to 70%). Continuous mental and visual attention is required on a constant basis. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push, pull and work in small, tight, cramped spaces. Requires working under somewhat disagreeable conditions on a frequent basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
