Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of marine water transportation equipment, including engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Your expertise will ensure that vessels operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse marine machinery and contribute to the safety and performance of water transportation operations. All work is performed with safety as a top priority, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to industry standards. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, and electrical systems using schematics and technical drawings. Diagnose electrical issues using ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools; troubleshoot marine electrical systems to identify faults efficiently. Repair and maintain mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, shafts, sheet metal parts, and water transportation equipment. Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering equipment, and precision measuring instruments to assemble or disassemble machinery accurately. Interpret technical manuals and schematics to facilitate troubleshooting and repairs; ensure all work complies with safety standards including PPE use. Conduct rigging tasks for installation or removal of heavy machinery or components; perform heavy lifting safely following established procedures. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostics conducted in accordance with MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) protocols. Skills Proven experience as a service technician or marine mechanic with a strong understanding of marine propulsion systems and ship electrical systems maintenance. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and schematics related to marine engines and electrical wiring. Solid mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in marine engine repair and mechanical systems repair. Electrical experience including troubleshooting marine electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters. Familiarity with rigging techniques for assembly/disassembly of heavy equipment; experience with water transportation equipment maintenance is preferred. Ability to perform precision measurements using calipers and other measuring instruments; soldering skills are a plus. Experience working with diesel mechanics or heavy machinery in military or civilian settings is advantageous. Strong commitment to safety practices including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all tasks. Knowledge of maintenance procedures for marine electrical systems troubleshooting and ship electrical system diagnostics. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments requiring mechanical troubleshooting and engineering problem-solving skills.
