Job Description
Position Summary Responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning marine vessels and their mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propulsion systems. This is a senior-level position requiring advanced technical knowledge, independent decision-making, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to oversee complex repairs and maintenance projects. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair marine engines, transmissions, propulsion systems, generators, steering systems, and related equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, tune-ups, and major overhauls. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel-system problems. Conduct engine installations, removals, alignments, and commissioning. Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and manufacturer documentation. Perform sea trials and verify vessel performance following repairs. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation. Identify parts, tools, and materials required for repairs and manage repair projects from start to completion. Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and applicable safety requirements. Train, guide, and provide technical support to junior marine mechanics and technicians. Communicate professionally with vessel owners, customers, supervisors, vendors, and other technicians. Respond to emergency breakdowns and time-sensitive service calls when required. Qualifications Certified or professionally qualified marine mechanic/technician. Extensive hands-on experience with marine propulsion and vessel mechanical systems. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities. Strong knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel systems, and related components. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to vessels or job sites as required. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
