Overview Small engine mechanic needed to work on equipment like lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, snowblowers, etc.

Key Responsibilities Diagnose Issues:

Test and inspect engines and equipment to find broken, worn, or malfunctioning parts using diagnostic equipment.

Repair and Replace:

Dismantle engines/equipment and replace bad parts like carburetors, pistons, spark plugs, and gears, etc.

Routine Maintenance:

Perform oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, and lubrication.

Testing:

Test repaired equipment to make sure it runs safely and correctly.

Customer Service:

Talk with customers and about equipment problems, explain repair options, and provide cost estimates. The candidate will be responsible for completing customer invoice paperwork accurately. This includes entering customer and billing information, documenting products or services provided, checking quantities and prices, and making sure invoices are complete before they are submitted or sent to the customer. Attention to detail and basic computer/data-entry skills are important.

Record Keeping:

Keep track of parts used, repairs made, and work hours.

Qualifications and Requirements Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Vocational training in small engine repair preferred but willing to train the right candidate.

Mechanical Skills:

Strong understanding of two-stroke and four-stroke engines, fuel systems, ignition systems and equipment but willing to train the right candidate.

Physical Strength:

Ability to lift heavy parts, stand for long periods, and use hand-eye coordination.

Driver's License:

Valid driver's license may be required.

Work Environment Schedule:

Full-time and/or part time work, with busy seasons throughout year.
