Flexible, project-based with potential for ongoing work Job Description We are looking for a capable, dependable Marine Handyman / Boat Maintenance Technician to assist with repair, installation, fabrication, and improvement projects on recreational boats. This is a hands-on position for someone who is mechanically inclined, works carefully, and can take a project from start to finish without constant supervision. Formal marine certifications are not required. We care much more about demonstrated competence, quality workmanship, and previous hands-on experience . The right person may come from a marine repair, boatyard, carpentry, construction, RV, fabrication, or general handyman background. Typical Work May Include Installing and replacing deck hardware and fittings Drilling, bedding, sealing, and fastening hardware properly Installing or modifying sailing and deck equipment Minor fiberglass, wood, and composite work Interior carpentry and finish work Measuring, templating, cutting, and fitting materials Cushion, foam, panel, and similar custom-fit projects Hardware replacement and general boat repairs Troubleshooting and completing miscellaneous improvement projects Working with stainless hardware, sealants, fasteners, backing plates, and marine materials Removing existing equipment and making clean, professional installations What We're Looking For You do not need an extensive resume or formal marine education. You do need to be competent with tools and able to demonstrate previous quality work.
Ideal candidates will have:
Strong general handyman and mechanical skills Experience with drills, saws, grinders, hand tools, and measuring/layout tools Ability to measure accurately and fabricate or fit components Understanding of how to mount and secure hardware properly Attention to waterproofing, sealing, fit, finish, and appearance Ability to think through a project rather than simply follow step-by-step instructions Dependability and good communication Respect for boats and the importance of avoiding unnecessary damage Marine experience is strongly preferred but not required if you have transferable skills and a strong track record of quality work.
Experience / Past
Work Applicants should be prepared to provide photos or examples of previous work . This can include boat work, carpentry, fabrication, construction, RV work, custom installations, mechanical projects, or similar hands-on work. We are less concerned with credentials than with seeing evidence that you can measure correctly, install things correctly, solve problems, and leave behind professional-looking work. Compensation Competitive hourly or project-based compensation depending on experience and capability. There is potential for ongoing work for someone who proves dependable and produces high-quality results.
