Marine Technician Trainee American Marine is seeking a motivated Marine Technician Trainee to join our service team along the Mississippi River. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and learning about boats and marine engines. Previous marine experience is helpful but not required—we're willing to train the right person. Responsibilities Assist experienced technicians with boat, motor, and trailer repairs Learn to diagnose, service, and repair outboard engines and marine systems Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lower-unit service, battery replacement, and inspections Help prepare and winterize boats for seasonal storage Assist with spring commissioning and boat launches Install marine accessories, electronics, trolling motors, and other equipment Move, launch, retrieve, and safely secure boats Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment Complete work orders accurately and communicate repair progress Follow dealership procedures and all workplace and boating safety requirements Participate in manufacturer training and work toward industry certifications Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn Dependable, organized, and able to follow instructions Strong work ethic and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a service team Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in changing weather Comfortable working around water, boats, trailers, and shop equipment Personal tools are helpful but not required to begin Automotive, powersports, small-engine, agricultural, or mechanical experience is a plus What We Offer Hands-on training with experienced marine technicians Manufacturer training and opportunities to earn certifications A clear path toward becoming a full Marine Technician Competitive pay based on experience Employee discounts Benefits and paid time off for eligible employees Year-round work in a growing marine dealership A team-oriented environment centered around boating and life on the Mississippi River Schedule This is a full-time position.
