Railroad Equipment Operator - Tamper Operator HG Railroad Services, a division of Hydro Green Erosion Control, is a railroad-services contracting company based in Opelika, Alabama. We are currently seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our maintenance and track-construction crews as Railroad Laborers/Equipment Operators. Our experienced team takes pride in delivering quality work safely, efficiently, and on schedule to meet our customers' needs. Previous railroad experience is preferred but not required—we are willing to train the right candidates. Responsibilities Travel extensively to job sites, including overnight and multi-day assignments Perform duties and tasks assigned by the track foreman Conduct responsibilities in a fast paced environment Assist with railroad-track maintenance and construction Remove and replace railroad ties and rails Pull and drive railroad spikes Work collaboratively with a team to produce a polished end result. Safely use hand tools and operate heavy equipment Follow all company and railroad safety requirements Qualifications Proficiency in running a tamper Willing and able to travel frequently and remain away from home for several days at a time Valid driver's license required Ability to successfully complete required railroad safety training Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions Previous railroad or heavy-equipment experience preferred but not required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly pay Immediate overtime opportunities On-the-job training for qualified candidates Health insurance plans after 60 days (BCBS) 401k after 60 days Employment decisions are based on job-related qualifications, work history, and demonstrated work performance.
