Job Description
Performs various construction and road work duties, such as working with asphalt, dirt, and concrete; Helps with maintenance of street and traffic signs; Helps concrete crews form, place and finish concrete; Drives and operates various equipment and vehicles; Loads trucks; Transports construction materials; Performs minor maintenance on heavy trucks; Performs snow and water removal. Starting pay $21.5335/hr. Provided benefits include but are not limited to: Health Insurance Group Life Insurance Wellness Program CERS Retirement through Kentucky Retirement Systems Paid time off includes: Vacation Sick Time Holidays (for eligible employees) Primary essential functions include but are not limited to: Performs routine and preventative maintenance on streets, street signs, property, facilities, stormwater drainage ways, and/or equipment to ensure they are in proper condition for the public and employees; Performs various construction and roadwork duties, such as working with asphalt, dirt, concrete, or other activities; Maintains street and traffic signs, and street striping; Drives/operates various vehicles/equipment; Transports construction materials; Dumps loads at desired locations; Loads trucks; Cleans, greases and performs minor maintenance on heavy trucks; Installs and maintains regulator signs, parking signs, street markers, street striping, and crosswalks; Removes outdated sign posts and concrete; Places signs to direct traffic during festivals and City construction jobs; Performs snow and water removal; Inspects equipment, vehicles, and loads to detect malfunctions and to ensure safety and compliance with applicable laws; Dismantles machines and equipment to access problem areas and performs repairs; Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems, and repairs; Tests equipment operations following repairs; Sets up and operates tools such as drill press, or grinder to make repair parts; Operates a cutting torch to braze or trim parts and components; Cleans and cuts drainage ditches by mowing, trimming grass, tree/limb/debris removal, drainage work, removing trash, weeding, etc. Required at time of application : High School diploma or GED and Minimum 6 months work-related experience in road work, general labor, as equipment operator, or similar position Valid Driver's License Equivalent amount of education and/or work-related experience is acceptable. Valid CDL, Class B or higher required within 11 moths of employment.
