Role Description:
Certified Flaggers/TCT/TCS team members play a critical role in maintaining safe and compliant work zones for road construction and utility projects. This full-time position is generally based within a 60 mile radius of the Charlotte Metro area and involves setting up, monitoring, and adjusting traffic control devices according to approved plans and regulations. Day-to-day tasks include directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic with proper signage and flagging techniques, communicating clearly with construction crews and the public, and responding quickly to changing conditions to prevent incidents. The role also involves conducting pre-job safety checks, following state and local traffic control standards, and completing required documentation or reports. Team members may assist with training new staff, inspecting equipment, and supporting lane closures or detours. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Traffic Control and Work Zone management, including proper setup and removal of signage, cones, and barriers. Knowledge of Road Safety practices and regulations, with a strong focus on hazard awareness and safe operations around moving traffic. Effective Communication skills to coordinate with crews, supervisors, and the public, including clear verbal instructions and radio use. Familiarity with Road Construction environments and procedures, with the ability to work safely around heavy equipment and changing site conditions. Experience in Training or mentoring team members on flagging techniques and safety protocols is beneficial. Current Flagger, TCT, or TCS certification (or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe). Ability to stand for extended periods, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift traffic control equipment as required. Reliable transportation to varying job sites generally within a 60 mile radius of Charlotte Metro; willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights or weekends. $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
